The move went much smoother this time than our move out of the old house; however, we were only moving half the stuff since the rest is in storage AND, most importantly, we used movers this time. I think the only reason Ron broke a sweat during this move was because the movers left the door open the whole time. It was definitely money well spent! We only had one casualty (our entertainment center suffered a crack), but hopefully that will end up working to our advantage anyway. Grandma R came down for the day and entertained the kids with her prize basket. The kids really enjoyed having someone here who could focus solely on them during the chaos of moving day. That made things go smoother, too.
Within hours of moving the toys in, the kids were making themselves right at home (with Grandma's help). Here's a picture of the playroom on moving in day:
As smooth as yesterday went is as rough as today went. Tyler was up shortly after 6am (about 2 hours earlier than usual). Danielle was whiny. I was tired and SUPER grouchy. Ron was grouchy because I made him that way. It was hot. You get the idea. Moving is stressful, but we're all happy to finally be in here. Tyler repeatedly said today, "It's so good that we're here." It is good.
Well, before being in here 24 hours the kids have managed to leave their mark. Danielle was playing with a Spongebob water worm that had yellow fluid inside. She was fooling around and bit it. The yellow water spurted out onto our nice, new carpet. I screamed (not at her, just at the horror of it all) and then she screamed (because she couldn't distinguish between me screaming at her or just screaming in horror). At that exact same moment, Ron's cell phone rang and the DirectTv guy (who was 2 hours late) rang the doorbell, causing the dogs to go crazy. It didn't matter to me how crazy the dogs got or how long that man had to stand at our door, I was going to clean that carpet first, while there was still a chance! I know I'm just delaying the inevitable, but it would be nice if we didn't leave any permanent marks until we make our first mortgage payment. I think the traces of yellow are all gone, but I'm trying not to look too closely.
