The Important Things

Both kids had pretty successful academic years - despite all those nights of practices and games, Danielle got all As all year, and Tyler finished his first year of high school with a 3.7 (A-) gpa. While I'm proud of their hard work and grades, it's immeasurable things like this that matter most.

Another School Year in the Books

First day and last day of 7th & 9th grades. They both look a little more grown up, but Danielle more so. 7th grade was a big year of changes for Tyler, too.

Our annual tradition. I tried to talk to the kids into changing our tradition to eating ice cream, but they didn't buy it. I am a HUGE fan of the bunch o balloons balloons. We tried them for the first time last year. They really are as easy as they advertise.

I'm looking forward to a fun summer! (Yes, those are water balloon pieces in Danielle's hair and on the door behind us.)

A Few More Park Pics

Here are a couple pictures Danielle took. That's a nice, close picture of the tree frog on the downspout, but we were a good distance away when Danielle spotted it. She just has a eye for noticing things like that.

This picture is mine. I forgot I took it on the camera she was using.

A Walk in the Park

Danielle and I spent some time at the park looking for tree frogs after the rain yesterday. This is still one of my very favorite things to do in the summer, and I'm so thankful she still enjoys it. We found several treefrogs. We also took some pictures. Here are some of mine.

This apartment includes a mother-in-law suite.

I can't figure out what kind of moth this is. I just thought it was cool because it blended in perfectly with the wooden shelter walls.

Play Ball! (Again!)

Travel softball season started this weekend. We played 3 games and an inning of a 4th yesterday, but the rest of the tournament was cancelled due to rain and wet fields. That was a rather disappointing way to kick things off, but at least we got to play a few games.

Danielle played well. The jury is out on the team as a whole. I think that's all I'll say about that.

She's starting her 2nd season as a lefty.

It wouldn't be softball season without a rain delay.

I think the ump really liked Danielle. He talked to her so much it was almost a distraction. She is a nice, polite kid, though, and it never hurts to have the ump like you. ;)

Softball always brings the biggest smiles

She played 2nd all day. They moved her to centerfield for part of an inning, but after the girl playing 2nd made 2 errors in a row, they moved Danielle right back.

This was against the team Danielle played for last year. The first base player's mom snapped this photo. Danielle's ump friend switched fields and the new guy must have needed glasses. He called Danielle out on this play.
Hopefully the weather will be a little more cooperative for next weekend's tournament.
