Part of the school's campus. The kids were carrying buckets and bowls to gather drinking water from a spring.

After our boat tour, we returned to the family owned restaurant for a late lunch & entertainment.

Tyler liked the turtle shell drums.

Heading back to the ship

It was stressed to us several times throughout our day how thankful the people were that cruise ships were starting to visit their area. They genuinely seemed to appreciate the "contribution" we make to their economy. As we left, all the taxi, bus, & boat drivers and people from inside the visitor's center gathered on the pier. They shouted "thank you", waved good-bye, honked their horns, and flashed their headlights. It was actually kind of moving.

We enjoyed a boys'/girls' night out for dinner. Danielle and I went to the main dining room. Every where we went on the ship the kids were treated like royalty. They were constantly called "prince" and "princess". We could hardly get through our meal because all the waitstaff kept coming over to talk to Danielle.

Ron and Tyler went to the sushi restaurant. He said they had the same problem with the staff's interest in Tyler. Doesn't look like it affected his appetite, though. We all met up after dinner and took the kids for a late evening swim in the heated kids pool (we sat in the kids hot tub!) We all had a very special evening.

Tomorrow: Day 4, Belize

I am SO enjoying this!

There are beginning to be a lot of places in the Caribbean where the people have realized the benefits of encouraging tourism to boost their economy. I think Belize was one a while back that started educating their people for that and it seems I remember an island we visited too that said the same thing.

I'm not sure it's always a good thing since the tourists can influence the culture as well.

Can't believe that kid likes sushi so much.
