Sports Saturday

Today was Tyler's 2nd football game and Danielle's first soccer game (of the fall season). It is so hard to get pictures of the kids in action. Part of the problem is that we're too far away and they move too fast. The other problem is that we get so caught up in watching them play that the camera just gets in the way.

Tyler had team pictures this afternoon, so the football pictures are from that. He did really well in his game today and seemed to have a really good time. He plays flag football, so you would think there wouldn't be much contact...but there is. The kids in his league are supposed to be 5-7, but I know there's a 4 year old on his team. There was a kid on the other team today who must have been 10. (Not really, but he was big.) Although next year he will start tackle football, I think I'll feel more comfortable with that because he'll have pads & protection. If he is willing to put in the effort, I think Tyler has the potential to be a really good tackle. I think he most enjoys playing defense.

Danielle had a little case of pre-game jitters but ended up playing a great game. She moved up to the next age level because she turned 5, and the kids are a little bigger! There are preschoolers like Danielle on the team, kindergarteners and even some first graders (Tyler's age). Danielle held her own quite well, though. She is fast and not afraid to run after the ball. There's also no denying she looks adorable in her soccer garb.
