Softball Season Comes to a Close

Danielle's softball team played in a world series tournament the weekend we left for vacation. The tournament ended up being longer than we anticipated, causing us to leave a day later. Even so, she still missed the last game.
Watching another team play during one of her breaks.

The tournament itself was a fun experience. The teams did a lot of fun things, like giving each other gift bags and trading pins. Throughout the weekend, Danielle was the only player on our team who played the same position every single game. She made several excellent defensive plays at 2nd and worked her butt off. She was so fun to watch. As fun as it was, this tournament was a little sad for us all, though, because Danielle decided to play for another team next year. She's been with these same coaches and several of the girls for 5 years now. It was a big decision.

She went to try-outs for a couple different teams but had one team in particular she wanted to be on. She had a great try-out for that team, and the coach called us to offer her a position before we even made it home. It's a gamble because the team is new and the coaches are very young. They are part of a good organization, though, and Danielle thinks she can learn a lot from the coaches, who play college softball. If not, she'll look for another team next year. We're excited to see what next softball season will bring.

Here are some pictures from her last tournament. Thank you to Uncle Ron for spending a long day at the ball fields with us that Saturday.

They played on some turf fields during the tournament. You could see the heat rising off them. The girls said they could feel the heat through their shoes. Danielle thought it was a lot of fun to slide on the turf, though!

A great bunt

She always makes softball look fun.

Great pictures. Can't wait to see where all of this takes her. What opportunities lie ahead. You and Ron have been great encouragers.
