Band Concert #2

Tyler's Christmas program was last night. He had 2 solos and spent a lot of time practicing, so it was very disappointing when he woke up at 3am yesterday morning with the stomach flu. I solicited prayers and let Tyler stay home from school most of the day. He took some anti-nausea medicine and went to school long enough to play in the band concert during the day. He rested the rest of the day. He took more anti-nausea medicine and toughed out the evening concert. I'm so glad he did! He did such a great job! His band director was grateful, too.

There is only one other trumpet player in the 7th grade band. She doesn't play all the notes most of the time and isn't very loud when she does, so although the other times aren't technically considered solos, most every time you hear a trumpet, it's him. He was the only person in both the 7th and 8th grade bands to have a solo. I'm so thankful he was able to play!

Here are 4 out of the 5 songs they played. Danielle took the video with her ipod and my phone.

Frosty the Snowman

Dark Adventure (Tyler has a small solo around the 2 min mark.)

Ukrainian Bell Carol

In Darkest Night (Tyler's solo starts at the beginning and he carries the melody by himself throughout the song.) The music starts around 1:20. Danielle wanted to get video of him introducing Tyler. :)

We are quite impressed with how clear that trumpet is. Noticed that in the one you posted on FB. Thanks for the others. i hope we are home in time for the spring concert. And the videographer did a great job too. Glad she got that introduction in :-)
