Summer Break

We are getting a slow start on our summer break. I was feeling as though my house had been neglected for quite awhile, so my first priority was a good, thorough cleaning. I started with Danielle's room on Friday and am still not done. I did take a little time out for some softball, and we spent Sunday at the pool because the weather was perfect, so I guess I've had a fair share of distractions. I am hoping to finish up tomorrow so we can get busy having fun!

On Tyler's first day of summer break, he took a scuba refresher class to prepare for his upcoming dive trip with Grandma & Grandpa. After he put on his wet suit, he leaned over to me and said,  "I forgot how much fun this is!" His instructor said he did a great job, he feels a little more confident, and most importantly, Mom has a little more peace of mind.

Today Tyler's summer break fun included having a baby tooth pulled. Xrays last summer showed the roots just weren't being absorbed by the adult tooth. Nothing had changed since then, so it was time to pull it. He has a couple others that might need pulled, too, but we'll deal with that later. (He had to have several shots to sufficiently numb his gum, so we might need a little time to let that memory fade!) When I made the appointment I made it early in the summer so we could get it out of the way. I felt a little guilty about it today, but he was a trooper.

Since our last day of school on Thursday, Danielle has had a pitching lesson, a hitting lesson, 2 rec softball games, doubleheader travel softball games, and a softball practice. She also cleaned her room, which was probably the most taxing activity of all. She is getting better at pitching, although she had an off night tonight.

Still on the agenda for this week: taking a van full of "goodies" to the thrift store, dropping off some donated items to the kids' schools, watching our HS girls' softball team play in the state semi-finals, picking strawberries, going swimming, softball practice, another rec game, and a birthday party. Assuming I finally get this house cleaned...
