This and That

We have been really busy lately! We have less than 3 weeks left until school starts, so I think maybe I've been trying to cram all the fun we can into what's left of summer.

Since my last post we visited the zoo.

I turned another year older. After dinner on my birthday, we went for a walk at the park while the sun set. We saw lots of critters - birds, frogs, deer, butterflies. It was fun.

We released our butterfly. My brother brought Danielle an early birthday present - 8 monarch caterpillars. They were all in different stages, which was neat. If you look closely at the first picture, you can see he just molted. His head capsule is by his legs and his skin is all bunched up in the back. In the last butterfly picture the caterpillar is still making his chrysalis. Danielle finally got to watch a caterpillar make its chrysalis. We did have a couple die. One had a fly egg inside it and died when the larva came out. It was absolutely disgusting. We have 2 in their chrysalises and 2 that are still munching away. The caterpillar that hatched from the egg we found on our own plants is still growing and doing well, too.

We went to the fair.

We went to the water park.

We toured a popcorn "factory". Danielle brought a couple friends with her. We also went to lunch and then to a park. The first park was too boring, so we went to a school playground. Once we got to the playground, the kids decided they needed to use the restroom. Nothing was close except a fire station just down the road. The kind firemen let us in, allowed the kids to use the restroom, and then gave the kids a tour. Afterward we went back to the playground for a little while longer.

As you might guess, I haven't cleaned the house and have barely kept up with laundry, but we've had a lot of fun! I'll have plenty of time to clean the house in about 3 weeks.

Smiled at your firehouse stop. As I was walking yesterday a dry cleaning delivery fan screeched to a stop in front of the house being built next to us. Motor running the driver galloped to the jiffy-john, used it and went on his way. I don't think he got a tour though ;-)
