I promised the kids at the beginning of the summer I would take them to the nearby waterpark. We decided to go this Friday so we could do something fun before Danielle's birthday. I enlisted Uncle Ron's help in case Tyler was brave enough to try some of the big water slides because Danielle and I will not go down them. Turns out he wasn't brave enough this year, either. The kids had a great time, and we all enjoyed spending the day with Uncle Ron.
Danielle's birthday was Saturday. We didn't do much during the day. She opened her gifts from us and played with those. We went out to her favorite restaurant for dinner. She was surprised by a hot fudge sundae from the singing waiters. That evening she had some neighborhood friends over to play. What was intended to be a playdate evolved more into a party - but without the goody bags or obsessive planning. Danielle had a great time playing with all her friends. We are so blessed to be surrounded by neighbors who have become dear friends. (Tyler and his friend Luke, the only boys, had enough of the girls and decided to play the Wii.)
One of our neighborhood friends is a hair stylist. As part of her gift to Danielle, she opened the salon for Danielle today and gave her the royal treatment, including her pre-school cut. I don't know how she did it, but Danielle's curls popped right into place under her skilled hands. Too bad we ruined it with a trip to the pool with our friends this afternoon! It was a very full and very good weekend. Hopefully it will be a birthday Danielle remembers for years to come.

What a beautiful girl she is! Where did the last 6 years go?

I've wondered that myself. What I would give to just have a pause button sometimes. The kids are growing up too fast.
(I would like to have a mute button sometimes, too.)
Just to clarify, it was Tyler that was not brave enough for the big slides, not Unlce Ron. ;0
Uh, sure. Whatever you say. :)
What a fun happy birthday! I love the underwater picture :)
