First Track Meet

Danielle's first track meet was this afternoon. It was an open meet, so everyone who wanted to got to participate. The coaches assigned the events, though. Danielle got to run the 100m dash, 4x100m relay, and 4x200m relay. I think those were the exact ones she wanted to run, so that worked out well.

In the 100m dash she came in 2nd in her heat to the one girl from our school that beat her during time trials. That girl got 2nd overall. They only listed the top 3 positions, so I don't know where Danielle finished. Hopefully we'll get her time tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how that number changes by the last meet. It was windy and chilly today, too. Danielle is in lane 5 in the video.

She did really well in the 4x100 and pulled ahead of the other runners. Unfortunately, the other girls in her group did not do as well and they lost the lead. Her team finished 2nd in that race.

Her team came in 1st place in the 4x200. Danielle caught up with this girl as they handed the batons off. The other girls in her group continued to increase the lead. They ran well together.

I think she had a good time. It is definitely a different sport for us. Ron and I agreed it is not quite as much fun as softball, but we always enjoy watching her. It was fun to cheer for some of our friends, too.
