More Softball

Anyone tired of softball posts yet? Just a few more weeks...

Danielle's team made it to the semifinals again in their tournament this weekend, but couldn't bring home the win (again). Even so, Danielle played well. Here are a couple of  her highlights from this weekend. (It's nice to have a blog so I can brag and no one has to "listen" if they don't want to!)

She's been playing her preferred position at 2nd the past couple weeks and has really had the opportunity to shine. This weekend was no exception. In our first game today, our pitcher was struggling to find a strike zone the ump liked. She was frustrated and we really needed to get out of the inning. Bases were loaded, we had walked in a couple runs, and only had 1 out. Danielle caught a ball on the fly at 2nd and then whipped the ball over to third to pick off the lead runner, who was leading off. It was so quick, it looked professional. It was a beautiful heads up play. (Thankfully the 3rd baseman was paying attention, too!) It was an excellent play, got us out of the inning, and boosted the team's spirit. It was awesome! We ended up winning that game.

Danielle is the best slider on our team. The other girls joke about coming over so Danielle can teach
them how to slide, and the base coach jokes about having her give a sliding clinic. It just seems to come naturally to her. In one of our games yesterday, we needed one more run to clench the win and end the game. Danielle got up to bat, hit the ball, and made it to first. During the next batter's at bat, Danielle stole 2nd, then 3rd, and then home to clench the win. That was pretty awesome, too.

Enjoying a popsicle from Uncle Ron between games.

Tyler and I have been trying to get out to ride bikes together. We've gone a couple times since he's been back. It's been nice because the temperatures haven't been as oppressive the past few days. It's also nice to spend a little time with him. He doesn't like to go to Danielle's games, so I feel like I don't always get to see him as much as I'd like on the weekends. I think he's fine with how much I see him, though. He is almost 13, after all.
