Travel basketball try-outs are tomorrow so she's spent the past several evenings practicing. She is a little rusty, but that won't stop her from trying.

What is travel basketball? I tried googling it (however I did not try very hard) and didn't see a quick answer.
Here, in this case, it is a basketball team the player has to try out for (like the travel softball team). Not everyone who tries out will make it. The team will travel to other locations to play other teams of similar skill levels. It is competitive. This differs from the recreational league in that anyone who pays gets to play regardless of skill, all games are held at the same location and are against other teams of girls from our school, and it is really more of an instructional league.
