Vacation Pictures - Misc Key Largo Pics

Tyler had a great time fishing.

Our view for dinner one evening. A manatee came in while someone was washing off their boat and we watched 5 large iguana climb up the slanted tree to the left. It was a very nice dinner.

Feeding the tarpon at Robbie's.  Danielle always dropped her fish before the tarpon got close to her.

Dad R took this picture. I cropped it so you could see just how big that mouth is!

Danielle and Grandpa checking for the shark one last time.

Fishing at dusk the day before we left.

He caught a pretty good size catfish.

Vacation Pictures - Water Creatures

One of my favorite days in Key Largo was the day Danielle and I spent exploring the tide pools and canoeing to the marina while Ron and Tyler fished from the dock. I used my cell phone and gopro for a lot of the pictures but they turned out pretty good anyway. We found a lot of starfish and really enjoyed seeing the playful manatee. We made lots of good memories together that day.

Danielle took this panoramic with my phone.

Volleyball Tournament

Danielle had a volleyball tournament yesterday. They played very well together and finished 2nd overall. They played hard all the way, even taking the championship game to a tie-breaker set. Danielle had a great day. She did a great job serving, had some nice spikes and some outstanding saves. I wish I would have videotaped her because she had one play we will be talking about for a long time. Someone on her team shanked the ball out of the court on the 2nd hit. Somehow she made it out of the court and to the ball and then hit it backwards over her head to get it back into the field of play and just over the net onto the other side. It really was outstanding. She played in 13 matches, beginning at 7:15am and finishing up around 6:45pm. It's no wonder she slept all the way home and could barely make it through dinner!

She was the 2nd ref for one of the matches in our pool.

For a short kid, I'm amazed at how high she can jump!

Vacation Pictures - Misc. Wildlife

Here are some various wildlife pictures from our time in Florida.

Danielle and I loved to hear the lizards scurrying in the bushes and flowers every time we were outside. One night at dinner we watched 5 huge ones climb up a tree across the bank.

We found this tree frog hiding in the plant. He's much larger than the ones we have here. Doesn't he look happy? ;)

Ron's dad took me to a bird rehab center to see a spoonbill that often hunts for food in the nearby marsh. He and his hunting buddy the wood stork aren't residents of the rehab center, but we were lucky enough to catch them looking for their dinner.

The cormorant happily followed Dad along the boardwalk.

These owls have a nest on an osprey platform close to the ocean. I didn't get to see anyone in the nest, but these two were perched nearby. One of the owls carried a white rat around in its talons. (Look at those huge feet!) I think it was waiting for us to leave so it could feed it to the babies in the nest.

Brown pelicans and a snowy egret at Robbie's, where we fed the tarpon one afternoon. (I'll post pictures from that another day.)
