I found this bug on my lantana plant yesterday. It looks like someone painted little white flowers on its wings. I was a little confused because it appeared to be drinking nectar from the plant but didn't have wings like a butterfly or moth. Turns out it is an ailanthus webworm moth, and they keep their wings rolled up when they are at rest. Isn't it pretty?!

You really bug me. How do you find such great subjects to photograph?
ReplyDelete:) Well, I usually have a camera nearby - you never know when a photo opportunity might present itself!
ReplyDeleteNice! And I took a picture of a unknown butterfly today and thought of you :)
